Small Business Relief Grants

The Small Business Relief Grant is part of the City of Kissimmee's Business Boost program. This grant provides targeted financial assistance to small businesses within Kissimmee city limits still experiencing economic hardships related to COVID-19.
These grants are not loans and do not require repayment. Funds are intended to help local businesses remain viable and continue contributing to Kissimmee’s economy.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, businesses must:
- Operate with a physical location in Kissimmee city limits (deed or commercial lease required).
- Meet the SBA definition of a small business (fewer than 500 employees).
- Have been established before March 11, 2021.
- Demonstrate financial hardship caused or worsened by COVID-19 (between March 1, 2020, and December 30, 2024).
- Hold an active City of Kissimmee Business Tax Receipt and be listed as “Active” on Sunbiz.org.
- Be current on taxes, assessments, and fees, with no delinquent liens or code enforcement violations.
- Comply with all local zoning and business regulations.
Examples of eligible hardship:
- Decrease in revenue between 2020–2023 compared to 2019.
- Increased operating costs (rent, insurance, inventory).
- Debt accumulated during the pandemic affecting cash flow.
Both brick-and-mortar and home-based businesses are eligible, provided they meet the above criteria.
Required Documentation
Applicants must submit:
- Completed application (below)
- Current City of Kissimmee Business Tax Receipt.
- Registration through City of Kissimmee Vendor Self Service
- Proof of Active status with Florida Division of Corporations (Sunbiz.org).
- Signed W-9 form.
- 2019–2023 business tax returns (Form 1120, 1120-S, or Schedule C).
- Supporting documents to prove financial hardship (lease agreements, bank notes, etc.).
The City reserves the right to request additional documentation if needed.
Grant Award Tiers
Grant amounts are based on business size (measured by square footage):
- Home-based business: $5,000
- Up to 2,500 sq ft: $10,000
- 2,501-5,000 sq ft: $15,000
- Over 5,000 sq ft: $20,000
Important Notes
- Submitting an application does not guarantee funding; awards are based on eligibility, completeness, and availability of funds.
- Grant funds may be taxable. Applicants are responsible for consulting a tax professional.
- Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
