The Kissimmee Police Department is taking applications for five open seats on the newly established Civilian Police Oversight Board. This community-led initiative aims to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust in local law enforcement.

This advisory board will serve as a public forum for input on policing matters, helping to ensure open dialogue between the community and the Kissimmee Police Department. Board members will meet quarterly to review and provide input on departmental policies and procedures, with the goal of promoting continuous improvement and public confidence in the department’s work.

All five members of the board will be appointed by the Chief of Police. While members will help determine future meeting dates and times, the board is expected to convene at least four times per year.

To be eligible, applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Reside within the City of Kissimmee
  • Work within the city limits
  • Own a business in the City of Kissimmee

Please verify whether the address/location is within the City of Kissimmee

In addition, one seat is reserved for a retired law enforcement officer. Applicants must not currently hold elected office or be a candidate for elected office. If a member later qualifies as a candidate, they must resign from the board.

Initial appointments will be staggered: three members will serve two-year terms, and two members will serve one-year terms. Board members may serve a maximum of three consecutive two-year terms.

Applications are now available at kissimmee.gov/advisoryboards. The application window will remain open for 30 days or until all positions are filled.
