Become a Recreation Instructor

Are you an independent instructor for sports and recreation programs?

Independent contractors can submit a proposal to offer recreation, athletic, aquatic, and enrichment programs through the City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department. Proposals are accepted for programs each year during the following contract period: October 1 through September 30. (Applications for the following year's scheduling MUST be submitted by April 24 at 5 pm.)

Program and proposal details

Contractors may propose classes, camps, seasonal activities, aquatic programs, enrichment opportunities, recreational activities, sports, tournaments, and other community offerings. Proposals should include a clear overview of the program, including course descriptions, pricing, target age groups (preschool 3 - 5, youth 5 - 12, teen 13 - 17, adult 18+, and senior 55+), and any relevant syllabi or schedules.

Applicants should also include a proposed schedule for the contract period, including program start and end dates, duration, frequency, and planned days and times. Instructor background and experience should be provided, including any previous work with the City of Kissimmee or similar organizations.

Selection and evaluation

Proposals will be evaluated by the City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department based on experience with similar programming, proposal completeness and competitiveness, past collaboration with the city, capacity for additional programming (such as camps or tournaments), community impact, and compliance with background check and insurance requirements. Final contract awards will be made by the Parks and Recreation Director or their designee.

Important notes

The City reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to award contracts in the best interest of the community. Submission of a proposal is at the applicant’s expense, and the city is not responsible for any costs incurred during the proposal process.
